How Fundraising Is Important In College Athletics
People think that once you get to college to play a sport you do not have to fundraise for equipment and uniforms like you did once in high school. In college athletics there are more aspects that go into fundraising. The money from fundraising has to go towards equipment, uniforms, buses to go to the away games, hotel fees when you have to stay in a hotel for a tournament or a far away game, and food for the away games or tournaments. It takes a lot to fundraise for a team because there are some fundraisers that any teams cannot do. Also it takes time to find people who actually want to help fundraise and give money to the team. When people say that fundraising is easy they are lying because it is not easy while college athletes are balancing schoolwork, their sport, and trying to have a social life then you have to try to ask people to help fundraise money for their college sport.

I don't think people understand how much goes into supporting a college athletic team. Uniforms, practice jerseys, equipment, travel arrangements, and the list goes on. I see many students doing the things that SRU athletes are trying to fundraise for but when asked to buy a shirt or support the bake sale, I see a lot of students not partake. These athletes work hard on and off the field but if that athlete's sport doesn't interest you, you may not realize the technical skills and level of dedication those athletes have. Not every athlete here is on scholarship. When you see teams fundraising, please support them.
